Betton Animal Farm in East Ayton is a great place for your children to play and learn. You'll have a great time exploring the farm and paddocks, and getting to know all the animals. Dalby Forest is situated on the southern slopes of the North York Moors National Park. The southern part of the forest is divided by a number of valleys creating a 'Rigg and Dale' landscape whilst to the north the forest sits on the upland plateau.

North Bay - Scarborough, YO12 6PF

North Bay is a sandy beach with rocky outcrops to the north which become isolated at high tide and provide rock pool areas at low tide. To the south, there is a flat sandy area which leads onto rock armour and continues around the headland to South Bay. The main road around the headland runs parallel to the beach with ample parking provided. The beach is used by a wide range of users, from families through to recreational water sports.enthusiasts, with there being a number of beach chalets available for hire.

The beach is patrolled by an RNLI qualified lifeguard service during the summer season

North Yorkshire Moors Railway - Pickering Station, Park Street, Pickering, YO18 7AJ

Step back in time with Britain's most popular heritage steam railway. Enjoy stunning scenery along 18 miles of railway through the National Park. Daily running from end March to End Oct 2010. Peasholm Park - North Bay, Scarborough, YO12 7TR

Peasholm Park is an oriental themed park offering a beautiful system of streams and waterfalls, mini bridges and mystical gardens. There is a vast array of wildlife including an abundance of tame grey squirrels. Don't forget your peanuts!

Peasholm Park has a tranquil lake and in the summer months people can hire boats of all sorts to enjoy the water at close quarters. Boats include traditional rowing boats and canoes but pedaloes with dragon heads are available too. Peasholm Park is a haven of tranquillity in our North Bay – unless the battle ships are taking pot shots at one another! At times during the summer season, war breaks out on the Lake when 20ft replica boats recreate the tensions of a battle at sea.

Rotunda Museum of Geology - Vernon Road, Scarborough, YO11 2NN

A great all weather attraction. Interactive displays offer a fascinating insight into Scarborough’s Dinosaur Coast, the town’s history and the story of William Smith, ‘the father of English Geology’. 

The Rotunda is the 2nd oldest purpose-built museum in Britain. The museum has been a focal point for geology and local history enthusiasts ever since. The first floor Shell Gallery focuses on research and 21st century developments whilst the Dinosaur Coast Gallery offers bright, colourful and family friendly hands on experience of our coastline and its treasures.

RSPB Bempton Cliffs - Cliff Lane, Bempton, Bridlington, YO15 1JF

One of England's top wildlife attractions. Over 200,000 nesting seabirds, including gannets and puffins, from April - September. Visitor Centre, shop, refreshments, toilets, nature trail and spectacular cliff top walks throughout the year.

On a visit to this wonderful site, you are guaranteed grandstand views as an amazing wildlife story unfolds and the birds nest and raise their young. The Gallery tells the story of Scarborough through art: its history, the influence of the sea, and portraits & fashion. The 2012 Fears, Foes & Faeries exhibition explores English folklore & charms.

Scarborough Art Gallery, an Italianate villa built in the 1840s as part of The Crescent, houses Scarborough's fine art collection. The Gallery has a lively temporary exhibition programme that features contemporary work by professional artists. Our programme also includes talks and holiday activities for families.

Scarborough Castle - Castle Road, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, YO11 1HY

With over 2,500 years of turbulent history behind it, Scarborough Castle defends a prominent headland between the north and south bays, with sheer drops to the sea. Before the castle was built, this natural fortress was favoured by prehistoric settlers before serving as a Roman signal station and Viking haven.

This spectacular castle has also endured sieges from medieval kings and Civil War armies, and German naval bombardment during WWII. Today you can climb to the battlement viewing platforms for dramatic coastline views, and take tea in the 18th-century Master Gunner's House.

It is said that King Richard III enjoyed the view from the battlements so much so that he still walks them today!

The harbour is situated under the Castle Headland in the South Bay. It is formed by three piers, the outer harbour being set aside for leisure activities while most of the port’s communal activities take place in the main or ‘old’ harbour.

Stained Glass Centre - Killerby Lane, Cayton, Scarborough, YO11 3TP

Valerie Green is the fourth generation of the Lazenby family to carry on the traditional craft of manufacturing and restoring stained glass windows. The studio specialises in design and manufacture of stained glass panels. lampshades, mirrors and gifts. The exhibition charts the history of stained glass and illustrates how a window is made.

Terror Tower - 21 Foreshore Road, Scarborough, YO11 1PB

Inspired by the best horror movies Terror Tower is a Haunted House attraction with a serious twist, combining live actors, animated scenes and special effects. Featuring eleven different scenes covering three storeys in two buildings. Over 12-months in production Terror Tower uses high tech Animatronic figures, special lighting and high quality sound effects to create a very terrifying experience.

This unique show brings to life some of the most famous and terrifying characters from the horror movies. Guests will begin their journey in Bates Motel, visiting the shower scene with a shocking message from mother, from there you will enter the upper floors of the Tower where the real nightmare begins…

Whitby Abbey - Whitby Abbey, Whitby, YO22 4JT

Wolds Way Lavender - Deer Park Farm, Sandy Lane, Wintringham, YO17 8HW

Set within ½ mile from the Wolds Way Walk, surrounded by mature woodland, on the northern edge of the picturesque Yorkshire Wolds. Wolds Way Lavender and Herb Farm is a wonderful and relaxing place to visit. The family run 12 acre site is currently planted with over six acres of lavender ranging from rich hues of purple to the purest white.

There are over 120 different types of lavenders and herbs growing which when in flower, paint an incredible splash of colour across the site. Along the borders wild flowers abound adding to the colour as does the abundance of wildlife that has made the site their home. A leisurely stroll around the site reveals the amazing differences from one variety of lavender to another.
